(Hindu --> Hind --> Ind --> India) The ancient name of land India is "Bharat" and the religion Hindu was "Sanatan/Vaidik Religion"
There is one verse in the Vishnu Puran.
उत्तरं यत् समुद्रस्य हिमाद्वेश्चैव दक्षिणं ।
वर्षं तद् भारतं नाम भारती यत्र संतति ॥
The land situated north of ocean (The indian ocean) and south of the Himalaya, is known as Bharat and the peoples are known as Bharatiya.
In every Hindu holy books, the theory is not only for India. It can affected to every Human.
